At the present time, St. John's University is closed
for the spring semester, so our Mock Trial event
has been cancelled.  If there is any news regarding
rescheduling, we will post it immediately.

Catholic Middle School Mock Trial Competition  
                   Saturday, May 16th
           St. John's University Law School

This is a team competition and members are expected to attend all meetings.
If any members of the team have any questions or concerns about the case, meetings,
or any other matters, please see Mrs. Pirraglia or Mrs. Gelling.  We can also be contacted
via email using the links found on the bottom left side of this page.  
March 10:
      During our meeting:

• Mrs. Pirraglia handed out forms that must be signed and returned by 3/17
• We discussed the plaintiffs affidavits
• We spent time discussing different techniques for questioning witnesses
  • use chronological order as stated in affidavits
  • examination vs. cross-examination
  • create questions that make our witnesses appear reliable and knowledgeable
  • create questions that might raise doubts about the other teams witnesses
  • how to "redirect"
• We broke into groups to practice writing questions  

    Homework (due 3/17):
    All Mock Trial members must read & highlight the affidavits for the defendent,
    which can be found on pages 20-27 in the case packet.  Please be prepared to          discuss the information contained in the affidavits of Chris Rocket, Pat Smith,          and Terry McNeela.

March 4th:
      During our first meeting we:

• were introduced to the case
• set up our case packets
• read and discussed preliminary information about the case.

    Homework (due Tuesday, 3/10):
    All Mock Trial members must read & highlight the affidavits for the plaintiff,
    which can be found on pages 12-19 in the case packet.  Please be prepared to            discuss the information contained in the affidavits of Ryan Strongarm, Kerry            Knowall, and Lindsey Grimm.
